New WNBA mock draft omits Angel Reese before 2024 lottery
Many fans were surprised by ESPN's prediction that LSU women's basketball player Angel Reese would pick eighth in the forthcoming WNBA Draft, since they had anticipated she would go much higher.
However, the analysis is consistent with the writings of industry draft experts from the NCAA Tournament of the previous year.
Although there isn't much first-overall likelihood, she has first-round excitement.
Reese's mock draft blurb on ESPN stated, "Reese has made more headlines for her four-game absence this season than anything else."
"However, once that appears to be resolved, attention can return to her ability to get to the rim, compete aggressively for rebounds, and be a formidable force on defense.
"The question remains whether Reese, who is averaging 17.4 points and 10.0 rebounds, can improve her shooting range and post moves on offense and how that affects the perception of what she can do in the WNBA."
Reese may choose not to declare for the draft at all, giving him one more year of NCAA eligibility. She hasn't stated definitively whether or not she intends to leave LSU after this campaign.
The majority of the best prospects can actually continue their college careers through 2023–2024. The simulated draft took into account every possible draftee.
