In civil case alleging teen assault, Ja Morant was called to testify.

The best player for the Memphis Grizzlies, Ja Morant, has some legal obligations coming up as well as his anticipated return to the field.

ESPN's Baxter Holmes reported on Friday that the 24-year-old received a subpoena to appear at an immunity hearing for a civil action in Memphis.

Joshua Holloway, who reported to the police that the point guard struck him 12 or 13 times during a pickup basketball game at Morant's house in July 2022, is suing Morant.

At the time, Holloway was seventeen. He asserted that after Morant and a friend struck him so hard, a "large knot" developed on the side of his head.

He further said that following the assault, Morant went inside his house and returned with a revolver.

The hearing is supposedly set for December 11–13. Morant's attorneys are anticipated to request that the lawsuit be dropped, arguing that Morant was protecting himself after Holloway struck him in the jaw with a basketball.

According to Holmes, the attorneys for the former Rookie of the Year had previously tried to have Holloway's lawsuit dismissed in light of Tennessee's "stand your ground" legislation.
