Falcons coach Arthur Smith's career is in jeopardy following a 9-7 loss to the NFL's weakest squad.

Arthur Smith's job security is in jeopardy after the Atlanta Falcons blew a lead and fell to the NFL's poorest club on Sunday.

The Falcons were defeated 9-7 by the Carolina Panthers (2-12) on a last-second field goal by Eddy Pineiro

putting them out of a three-way tie for first place in the NFC South with New Orleans and Tampa Bay.

Eight days ago, the Falcons led the division by themselves.

However, back-to-back losses to division rivals Tampa Bay and Carolina have put the Falcons in jeopardy

leaving them one game behind the Buccaneers and Saints with three games remaining.

Both Tampa Bay and New Orleans triumphed on Sunday to even the series at 7-7.

The Falcons are 6-8 this season after going 7-10 in each of Smith's previous two seasons

raising questions about whether owner Arthur Blank will make a move if the team fails to make the playoffs.

This season, three NFL head coaches have been fired: Frank Reich of the Panthers, Josh McDaniels of the Raiders, and Brandon Staley of the Chargers.
